This campground is a wonderful stop. The facilities are very clean, the custodians are helpful, and we enjoyed the surrounding hiking and geocaching.

This is a nice park with level, large sites. The staff was very helpful, the casino had good food, and we really enjoyed our short stay here.

Sites are pull through that are very close together, and not very long. This was not a problem as there were only 2 other RV's there at the time. The electrical is 50 amp, but very wobbly scary wiring. No dump station was a minus for us. This is a nice place to stop for a night so you can see the caverns, but there is no restaurant nearby.

They have very friendly staff. This is an old KOA type park, with no paved sites. We asked to get one of the back in sites in the backside that have a view of the desert. These sites are pretty tight, and carry with them a $2 additional charge for cable TV which we did not want or use. We stayed here on Resorts of distinction, so we didn't complain to much about the additional $2 charge.

Not a bad park for the area. Sites are gravel and difficult to get level. The park is quiet, and very convenient to local attractions. Verizon coverage is superb! Saw few professionals. Negative is that we thought it a bit expensive for the 50 amp power. Very convenient to Wal-Mart, and other major stores.

As stated in other posts, this park is in need of lots of tender loving care. We were happy to find a place where we could use our ROD ($0) plus $3 a day for electricity. The staff was very nice and very helpful. We were told there is an alligator in the lake, but we never saw it.

This review is for the Malaquite Campground. We love the ability to look out the back window and watch the crashing waves, at night listening to those same waves is worth the admission price. Like others have said there are no fancy amenities, but a very nice peaceful place. We will return there.

First, let me say that the personnel are wonderful people, but they are working under extreme conditions. The speed limit on the dirt roads is NOT enforced. There are many professional people living there, and it shows. The speed bumps are in the wrong places, and really jar vehicles. We would probably stay here again if we were interested in seeing Carlsbad Caverns again.

This park is wide open with some beautiful views of the red rocks. There is great hiking in the area. The spaces are very adequate in size with water and 50 amp power. The dump station is easy to access. We had complete privacy while here for 3 days in November of '08. There were no other campers here. The 50 amp power was welcomed because of the 20* weather. Payment, as stated below is mostly on the honor system, there was no one to check, and finding the information on where to pay could have a been easier for the honest.

It is just a parking lot. There is lots of activity here because the trail heads are located in this parking lot. There are also some tent sites in the lower campground. The hiking here is fantastic!

We stayed here as an overnighter on Passport America. This park really is a good stop-over, but there really isn't anything that would bring us back except the price.

We are members of Sunrise Resorts. This is one of the most beautiful parks we have ever stayed in especially during the fall colors. We love the quiet, the wildlife, the hiking trails, the hatchery and the location. Management is very friendly, but think they could better spend their working hours by doing improvements to the park instead of wasting their time raking leaves and hand watering the grass. The negatives include management charging a $2 fee for cable TV even if you don't use it. The entrance into the park is steep, potholed and very intimidating if you have never been there before. There are too many professionals living here, and management does have the good-ol'-boy mentality, so the best spaces are reserved for them. We will stay here again.

The management is real nice, they are an older couple who have a real tough life out in the middle of nowhere. We stayed here to fill up and dump before going to Big Bend. The park is just a sand lot with low-voltage power, low water pressure and quite a bit of dust. We would not stay here again, there are better parks in the immediate area.

The staff is very helpful and courteous. Getting a site with good satellite access was tough, the trees make a beautiful setting. The 5 mph speed limit is not enforced. The roads are dirt, and the result is everything gets real dusty. We would probably stay here again because of the price using our Resort Parks International.

This park sits in a beautiful location in the trees. We found it to be very peaceful. Everyone was very respectful, the management was very nice. We will be back here. The only negative would be that we could not get the satellite dish signal because of the tree. The positive is that we didn't miss the TV at all!
